Mail Services provides essential state mail services to participating state and local government agencies in the Carson City, Reno, and Las Vegas areas. Services include pickup, processing, and delivery of outgoing mail, and overnight and interdepartmental mail, which includes overnight interdepartmental mail service between Carson City and Las Vegas. The United States Postal Service processes and delivers all in-bound mail to the individual agencies on a daily basis. Other services provided in the Carson City and Reno areas include: folding, inserting, addressing, and bulk mailing. Mail Services became its own division within the Department of Administration in July 2021. Previously, it was under Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records of the Department of Administration. Pursuant to State Administrative Manual chapter 1202, all state agencies shall use the Mail Services unless the Director of the Department of Administration provides specific exemption.

Customer agencies are expected to prepare mailings prior to pick up by Mail Services, this MSD Customer Mail Guide will provide our Customers with information on preparing the mail, interoffice mail, certified mail, tracking and the holiday schedule.
The Mail Services Rates for FY26 include production services, administrative fees, interoffice rates and address updates rates.
Interoffice Excess Weight Rates
The Interoffice Rate Sheet provides rates by pound on interdepartmental in transit between Carson City and Las Vegas.
High Value Item Shipping Consent Form
The High Value Item Shipping Consent Form provides Mail Services with direction and releases liablilty for shipping damage while an item is being sent through the interoffice mail system.
Interdepartmental Mail Service Request Form
The Interdepartmental Mail Service Request Form is used by state agencies to initiate, discontinue, or modify interdepartmental mail services. This includes setting up new mail delivery stops, terminating existing services, or updating delivery information such as mailing addresses. Submitting this form is required whenever there is a change in service needs to ensure proper routing and accountability.
